2012: Year Of The Dragon

Golden Gate Bridge 2012

Whew…we did it! Happy new years to everyone that made it through 2011.

This new year is a bit special to me because it is the year of the dragon and I happen to be a dragon. If you aren’t quite up to par with the whole chinese zodiac thing, smh. Take 2012 and subtract multiples of 12 from 2012 (i.e. 2000, 1988, and so on) to get all the previous year(s) of the dragon. Anyways, I’m starting off 2012 with a trip to the bay. I’m stoked to be back in san francisco/berkeley because it’s hella cold in nj/nyc right about now. Plus, I get to see all the homies and homegirls. I’m definitely gonna have to get a double double with fries and a milkshake at in-n-out and get a bite of that dank burrito from the mexican truck. Maybe some late night Jack In The Box and Pho Au Sen as well. Aside from all the festivities, I’ll also be attending YGTLC 2012 which is an engineering/science/technology conference to be held in burlingame, ca over the first weekend of January by the good folks over at ksea. Fortunately, I had the honor of not only being selected to attend but to present as a career panelist for one of the sessions. I plan on sharing about all the amazing things I’ve learned at SeatGeek (big ups to Chad). So there you go – a fresh entry to kickstart 2012.

I hope everyone is just as excited as I am for the upcoming year. We gon’ do it major this year!

A Year In Review – Skimmy In 2011

A quick look back at 2011…

Positives (+)

1. College Graduation – August 12, 2011
UC Berkeley = best 4 years of my life. Hands down. Amazing people, amazing experience. I loved every bit of everything and anything (even People’s Park and the gloomy SF weather).

The P-Bros Experience (Part 3/3)

2. First Vegas Trip
EPIC. Nothing more, nothing less.

las vegas
+Teddy and Isaac

3. The Proteges
-First of all, thanks to everyone involved (especially Sang) and to those that came out and supported us. Performing in the same show as Dumbfoundead and Wax was a dream come true. Then being featured on Wax Weekly? That was on some other ish. Wax and Dumb are both super humble dudes and I wish them nothing but the best. Big ups to Will too (for killing it on the vocals). I swear, Will gets all the lady fans and I get none.

The Proteges – Dumbfoundead Interview

-Big ups to Guirae and Sean for putting together the Fellowship Cyphers Volume I. It’s been a huge blessing.

4. SeatGeek
After graduating from college, I didn’t really have a solid plan. I mean I kind of always wanted to go to med school but at the same time I wanted to take a year off and go with the flow. I thought about doing post-bacc but figured it wasn’t the right fit for me. So I moved back home and spend some time browsing through job/internship opportunities in the nyc area. Then I stumbled across SeatGeek. The rest is history. Chad made it happen. You should thank him for this website.

Negatives (-)

1. No More College
I’m gonna miss it all.

Berkeley Y U No Meme

2. Turning 23
Turning 23 isn’t all that great. When I turned 22, I thought it wasn’t so bad because I was only one year removed from being 21. I used to always make that argument. Fast forward to December 2011 and I have no excuse. I’m getting old. Fine, old-er.

Final Score for 2011: +2. #winning.

charlie sheen bi winning
Yup, Charlie Sheen was indeed bi-winning in 2011.

Some idiot said the world is ending in 2012 and that I should live it up. Someone please slap this guy. Keep pushin’ in 2012 and see you on the bright side.

Leaving you with that good music. Happy New Year’s Eve!

Facebook Tops Most Searched Term Of 2011 (Facebook 1: Me 0)

The World Is Obsessed With Facebook

Facebook Most Searched Term 2011

Facebook, you did it again. You dominated my life this year…and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before. Thanks for being the most intellectually (un)stimulating web 2.0 site. You consume my life in ways that no other noun can. I’m not denying the fact that your notification system keeps me happy and that your relationship status has become more official than an engagement ring. You’ve allowed kids to be “married” online and others to be “in an open relationship”. You made me spend minutes, hours, and days coming up with brilliant and not so brilliant status updates. You’ve made me well aware of all the mutual friends I have with random individuals and taught me that the seven degrees of separation is in fact one click away. You allowed strangers to subscribe to my page and made me insecure about my privacy. You kept me sane through finals by telling me that it’s okay to be lazy and that it’s okay to be honest about how fucked I am for the test since there were plenty of others in my shoes that did the same. You also managed to live-fucking-stream my online activity on the upper right corner and share it to every “I-knew-you-when-I-added-you-but-we-haven’t-talked-since” person on my friends list. Then you came up with timeline and that stuff is just annoying. But then again, thanks for kindly reminding me of all the birthdays because I sure cannot remember them. I love you and hate you so much at the same time.

Read more about Facebook’s dominance on Mashable. Others in the top 10 include…well, Facebook 4 times.

1. Facebook
2. YouTube
3. Facebook Login
4. Craigslist
5. Facebook.com
6. Yahoo
7. eBay
8. www.facebook.com
9. Mapquest
10. Yahoo.com

Happy holidays to everyone reading this. Big ups to Paul Marcarelli for still being alive despite the popular belief that he’s dead. Can you hear me now?

Artist Spotlight: Speak!

Rapper Speak!

That’s the rapper “Speak!” aka the rap game’s Zach Galifianakis, the swagged out beach bum, and the rapping Jesus. The dude is so trill. Believe it or not, he co-wrote Kreayshawn’s Gucci Gucci which is only like the most talked about and hated song this year. I still can’t believe Kreayshawn got a major record deal off of that song. That’s ridiculous. I must admit though, I bump Gucci Gucci from time to time just to hate on it. I mean, it’s a pretty catchy song. And when I found out that Speak co-wrote the song, everything made sense. From the attire to the delivery. I could totally sense his input on that track. Speak is one of those guys you can’t take seriously but he’s fckin interesting. LOL

SPEAK! – RUN LOLA RUN

GETTING THRIFTY WITH SPEAK

Shout out to Chris Carter’s eyebrows. The one from ESPN.
